These days, we tend to come across a seemingly endless stream of last-generation Ford Thunderbird models at collector car auctions, most of them sporting very few miles on the clock. Given the fact that these sporty, retro-styled models were thought to be surefire appreciating assets at the time, this isn’t terribly surprising. However, that hasn’t really been the case yet, as the later Ford Thunderbird examples don’t tend to sell for huge money, meaning that one can score a nice one – like this 2005 with 17k miles – for a reasonable price, at least, for now.
This 2005 Ford Thunderbird is up for auction at Bring a Trailer with very few miles, making it a potentially solid target for anyone in the market for such a ride. It has lived under just two owners thus far, in the states of Florida and Texas, and is finished in Bronze Clearcoat Metallic with a matching hardtop and a power-operated Light Sand soft top. The auction listing doesn’t note any flaws on that finish, nor the 17-inch seven-spoke chrome Premium wheels.
Inside the cabin, one will find an equally nice set of heated power-adjustable seats upholstered in Light Sand leather with a black dashboard and carpeting, plus Bronze Metallic-tinted trim. Amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, the Audiophile sound system, cruise control, and an AM/FM stereo with an in-dash CD changer. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated 3.9L V8, which in this guise was factory-rated to produce 280 horsepower and 286 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission.
This is just the latest of a few previous-generation Ford Thunderbird models that we’ve seen surface for sale in recent years, most of which are in nice condition with few miles on the clock. That list includes a one-of-1,500 50th Anniversary with 28k miles, another 2005 T-Bird with 25k miles on the clock, an a 2003 model with less than 2k miles showing on the odometer.

These sure seem to be popping up with regularity. Too bad they’re not very collectible.
