The life of a SEMA show vehicle is a short but glamorous one, typically, as those custom builds enjoy only a few days in the spotlight. After that time is up, SEMA show vehicles tend to go in one of a few directions – some are retained by the folks that built them, others are taken apart and rebuilt or modified in other ways, and a few are sold to others. In recent months, we’ve seen quite a few former SEMA stars hit the auction block, and that list now includes this 2007 Roush Ford Mustang.
This particular 2007 Ford Mustang Roush model was indeed featured at the SEMA Show back in 2008, and is otherwise known as the “Prostang.” Now, the one-off build is set to be auctioned off at Mecum’s Houston sale next month, sporting a custom finish on the outside from Santani Paint USA, along with a Classic Design Concepts carbon fiber hood, exhaust cut-outs, a rear wing spoiler, and American Racing wheels. The pony car was designed by Steve Standford, and is also equipped with the Roush Performance Package.
Mechanically speaking, this Ford Mustang Roush model is powered by the Ford 4.6L V8, which has been treated to a polished supercharger, along with headers and an exhaust system from Bassani. That power flows to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission, and there’s even a roll bar inside the cabin in the event that the new owner might get the itch to test out these performance upgrades in a proper setting.
Interestingly, this Ford Mustang Roush build looks a lot like another former SEMA Star that hit the auction circuit this past November. That 2010 Mustang was nicknamed “The Rebellion” and was displayed at the 2009 SEMA Show as part of The Blue Oval’s featured pony car corral. On the outside, it features a custom paint job from Joel Stevenson’s Ten Ten Custom Paint in Las Vegas, covering a Street Scene body kit, a Trufiber hood, and a Roush rear spoiler.
