Along with its Panther platform counterparts – the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car – the Mercury Grand Marquis has quickly started to become more collectible, which makes sense given the fact that large, V8-powered, rear-wheel drive American sedans simply don’t exist on the new vehicle market anymore. Thus, those looking to secure a real piece of American automotive history are seeking out these rides, and we’re seeing more and more of them pop up for sale these days – including this 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis GS.
This 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis LS is up for auction at Bring a Trailer with just 15k miles on the clock, having lived with four owners and spending most of its life in Colorado thus far. None of those folks bothered to drive it that much, it seems, which means that the Norsea Blue Metallic sedan remains in excellent condition. There are no flaws noted on the exterior, in fact, which touts “Ultimate Edition” badging and lots of chrome, along with 17-inch wheels wrapped with 225/60 Michelin tires.
Inside, this Grand Marquis is chock full of luxuries including Medium Light Stone leather covered seats, woodgrain trim accents, a power adjustable driver’s seat, a CD stereo, automatic climate control, and cruise control. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 4.6L V8, in this guise was factory-rated to produce 224 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, which flows to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. Other notable mechanical features include all-speed traction control, as well as a set of power-assisted four-wheel discs.
In addition to this very clean Mercury Grand Marquis, we’ve seen a couple of other nice examples pop up for auction recently. That list includes a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis GS with 40k miles, a 2006 model with just 8k original miles, as well as a 2010 Grand Marquis with 20k on the clock.
