Ford Motor Company issued a recall for select Ford hybrids due to a software issue, which may cause a loss of drive power. This recall involves certain units of the 2022 through 2024 Ford Maverick, 2022 Ford Escape, and 2021 through 2022 Lincoln Corsair. The vehicles covered under this recall did not receive proper repairs under a prior recall for the same issue.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM) software may cause the vehicle to shift into neutral unexpectedly, causing a loss of drive power.
The hazards: a loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.
Ford Motor Company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Affected vehicles: select 2020 through 2022 Ford Escape hybrid models produced between February 2nd, 2022 and December 8th, 2022; 2021 through 2022 Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring crossovers assembled from September 22nd, 2021 and August 16th, 2022; and 2022-2024 Ford Maverick hybrid pickups built between August 27th, 2021 and March 20th, 2024.
Number of vehicles affected: 207
The fix: dealers will update the HPCM with the correct software, free of charge to owners of the aforementioned Lincoln and Ford hybrids.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on April 14th, 2025. The Ford reference number for this recall is 25S16.
