2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse VIN 001 Heading To Auction Again

Back in January 2023, Ford Authority reported that the very first S650 generation, 2024 Ford Mustang GT would be sold at auction with all of the proceeds from that sale going to benefit charity, as is usually the case. For those that want something a bit more special, 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse was also sold at Barrett-Jackson’s flagship Scottsdale auction in January 2024, where it raked in a rather eye-opening $375,000 for charity. Now, just slightly over one year later, that very same vehicle – 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse VIN 001 – is heading back to the auction block, however.

The very first Ford Mustang Dark Horse ever produced is set to be sold at Barrett-Jackson’s 2025 Palm Beach auction next month, marking a pretty quick turnaround after landing with its first owner in early 2024. In any event, anyone that missed out on that opportunity the first go-round now has another chance to bring home this special pony car, and this time, all of the proceeds will go the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which provides American heroes with mortgage-free homes, and also builds houses for catastrophically injured first responders, as well as the families of fallen veterans and other heroes.

Previously, the proceeds from the sale of this Mustang Dark Horse went to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. This common autoimmune disease affects many children and adults and is not the product of a poor diet or lifestyle, and instead, cannot be prevented – rather, those affected by it must live their lives managing the fact that their bodies aren’t capable of producing insulin.

This particular Ford Mustang Dark Horse is loaded up nicely and equipped with the optional Handling Package, the Appearance Package, and Recaro seats, along with both painted hood and accent stripes. Like all Dark Horse models, it’s also equipped with an enhanced version of the naturally-aspirated 5.0L V8 Coyote engine, which produces 500 horsepower and 418 pound-feet of torque, in this case mated to the six-speed Tremec manual transmission.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
