2024 Ford Mustang V8 Lineup To Get Performance Calibrations

For quite some time now, those seeking to add more power to their vehicles have found tuning to be a pretty simple way to do precisely that. In the past, one would typically take their vehicle to a specialist for that sort of thing, who alters various vehicle parameters in an effort to extract more horsepower and torque, but more recently, automakers like Ford have gotten into the game. The Blue Oval has released its fair share of performance calibrations as of late, in fact, and now, it’s set to release even more of them – including one for the 2024 Ford Mustang V8 lineup.

Recently, Ford Truck Enthusiasts uncovered this new offering via the California Air Resources Board (CARB) website, where they discovered a listing for a “Ford V8 Power Pack Calibration.” Taking a closer look, it seems as if 2021-2024 Ford F-150 pickups and 2024 Ford Mustang models with the 5.0L V8 Coyote engine are among that list under CARB E.O. D-431-11 and – specifically – the part numbers of M-9603-M50D for the 2024 Ford Mustang GT, and M-9603-M50DH for the Dark Horse.

Though the details of this future performance calibration for V8-powered Ford F-150 pickups and Ford Mustang models haven’t been released as of yet, it’s probably safe to assume that it’ll look a lot like the existing tunes that Ford Performance already offers for a host of vehicles. That means the calibration will likely come pre-loaded on a ProCal4 programmer, which enables users to make adjustments for tire size and gear ratio to ensure the speedometer is functioning properly.

As for what sort of power gains we can expect from these new performance calibrations, well, that much remains to be seen. However, existing tunes from Ford Performance have proven to be quite potent and popular with customers, and unlike many from third-parties, come accompanied by a warranty when installed by a Ford dealer or ASE-certified technician.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
