The Ford Maverick has been a value play in the automotive world since it launched for the 2022 model year, and even though the compact pickup has gotten exponentially pricier since then, that fact remains the same. In fact, the Maverick won a Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Award in 2022 and 2023, an accolade bestowed upon the vehicles that are projected to retain the highest percentage of their original MSRP over the first five years of ownership. Now, in the latest installment of these awards, KBB has recognized the 2025 Ford Maverick for the same reason.
The 2025 Ford Maverick has won a Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value Award in the compact pickup segment, as it’s projected to retain 53.2 percent of its original MSRP after five years. This is notable because the average 2025 model-year vehicle will only retain about 45 percent of its value over that same time period, a difference that can add up to several thousand dollars in many cases. As KBB points out, resale values can vary greatly between models, and are often one major ownership expense that folks don’t take into account when purchasing a new vehicle.
To come up with these figures, KBB takes data from its Official Residual Value Guide, using values established by automotive analysts that review the output from statistical models built upon millions of transactions. Vehicles that earn the highest five-year residual values, expressed as a percentage of their original MSRP, are selected for these awards. Residual values reflect projected future auction values for vehicles in average condition with 75,000 miles at the end of a five-year lease or ownership period.
In addition to winning a Best Resale Value Award on multiple occasions, the Ford Maverick has also been recognized by KBB as a “Best Buy” more than once, too. The Maverick won a Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Award in 2024 and 2025, in fact.
