2025 Ford Mustang GTD Production Has Begun: Video

It’s been quite a while since The Blue Oval pulled the covers off the most capable road-going pony car to ever exist – the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD – which made its debut way back in August 2023. Since then, we’ve learned more and more about what promises to be the ultimate Mustang, one that recently became the very first vehicle from an American brand to complete a lap at the Nurburgring in under seven minutes, as Multimatic Motorsports driver Dirk Müller piloted the pony car to a certified lap time of 6:57:685. Now, Ford CEO Jim Farley has confirmed that 2025 Ford Mustang GTD production is officially underway.

“Well I know we’re just building our first vehicles, so the first 10 are being built as we speak at Multimatic. We’re finished with the engineering and all the supply chain stuff, and now we’re into mass production,” Farley said during a recent appearance on the Spike’s Car Radio podcast.

As Ford Authority reported last month, the Ford Mustang GTD terms of sale include a commitment requiring that owners keep their cars for a minimum of two years, just like the Ford GT – a simulation that aims to prevent folks from flipping those vehicles for a profit, rather than driving and enjoying them. Those that want to purchase a Ford Mustang GTD also had to apply for that privilege and be approved by the automaker.

The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD starts out at $325,000, but as Ford Authority previously reported, the Carbon Series will have an MSRP of $428,000, while the Spirit of America starts out at $429,000 – prices that don’t include any options. Deliveries of the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD are slated to begin in Q2, so it won’t be too much longer before we start to see the new model out in public – and likely, on more than one race track, too.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. So…is this American-made (Flat Rock, Mi) or Canadian-made (Markum, Ontario Canada)?

    Reply
    1. The former. These things are essentially hand-made in Canada just as the Ford GT’s were.

    2. Canada is part of America so it is all Anerican made.

  3. Since deliveries will begin after the April 2nd tariffs take effect, means prices for this vehicle will start around $406,000 (without options) for the base model and top out at around $537,000 (without options) for the Spirit of America model. That means the Spirit of America Model with options, destination charge, dealers’ prep, tax and title, you might be looking at $600,000+. That money would buy a Ferrari that is superior to this this vehicle given Ferrari’s experience in racing that dates back to 1939.

Henry Ford himself had defeated renowned racing driver Alexander Winton in a head-to-head showdown in 1901, and another of Ford’s race cars—nicknamed “999” in honor of the record-setting Empire State Express 999 locomotive that had surpassed 112 mph—was driven to victory by Barney Oldfield in the 1902 Manufacturers’ Challenge Cup.
