2025 Lincoln Aviator Powertrain: Everything You Need To Know

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator debuted with a significant refresh, featuring a redesigned front and rear fascia, a revamped cockpit focused on comfort, and an upgraded infotainment system and BlueCruise driver assist functionality. Despite the substantial updates, the luxury crossover continues to offer a single powertrain option. Below, Ford Authority delves into said powertrain, breaking down everything you need to know about it.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator features the twin-turbocharged 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine. Under the hood of the luxury crossover, that powerhouse is rated to produce a healthy 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to the marque’s 10-speed automatic transmission. The Aviator can be configured with standard rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) for a premium.

That 3.0L V6 engine has been a staple of the Aviator line since the crossover’s 2020 model year. Initially, it was offered alongside the hybrid 3.0L V6 powertrain, which paired that gasoline burning engine with a plug-in hybrid electric battery and motor. This configuration was exclusively available for Grand Touring trimmed models, but it was discontinued after the 2023 model year and has not returned. In a similar vein, the Aviator’s platform mate, the Ford Explorer, also killed its V6 hybrid powertrain after the 2024 model year.

Both the Lincoln Aviator and the Ford Explorer were likely to be reimagined as all-electric vehicles, but in the face of waning demand for EVs, The Blue Oval canceled its plans to make these models a reality. Instead, the Aviator and Explorer are expected to include hybrid powertrains once again as Ford seeks to bolster its entire lineup with hybrid offerings by 2030. For now, though, the 2025 Lincoln Aviator will continue on with only its gasoline-burning powertrain.

Production of the 2025 Lincoln Aviator began in May 2024 at the Chicago Assembly plant. The luxury crossover started landing at dealers in late 2024, bringing the refreshed model one step closer to the hands of its buyers.
