Box Flies Out Of Ford Super Duty, Hits Cammer’s Car: Video

The Ford Super Duty is a great vehicle for those who need to transport or tow things – although a heavy duty truck is only as good as person behind the wheel. A recent viral dashcam video shows what can happen if proper precautions aren’t taken to ensure a load is secured. Not only is it a hazard to the items being transported, it can be dangerous to other drivers, too.

Video still of the box striking the cammer's windshield after flying out of the bed of a Ford Super Duty. The impact damaged the windshield enough to necessitate repairs.

The r/IdiotsInCars community on Reddit features the video, which shows the cammer traveling on Highway 130 in Austin, Texas. They’re driving in the right lane in what the poster says are extremely windy conditions with 40 to 50 mph gusts. The highway is a toll road with a speed limit of 80 mph, and the cammer says they were traveling at that speed when the incident occurred.

A white Ford Super Duty is driving the same direction as the cam car in the far left lane, when suddenly, a cardboard box flies out of the pickup’s bed. There’s little the cammer can do – there’s a semi truck in the middle lane and nowhere for them to go, and unfortunately, the box heads right for them like a heat-seeking missile. The box, which appears to be a little soggy due to rainy conditions the night before, slams into the cam car’s windshield, resulting in a significant crack and causing the driver to react with some choice language out of sheer surprise.

The box has LAengendary logos on it, which is a supplier of remote control car parts for enthusiasts. It’s not clear if this box was full, but it certainly had enough heft and speed behind it to damage the cammer’s windshield.

A few months ago, a different Ford Super Duty driver made a questionable judgement call and took off before the driver of the tractor loaded on its bed had safely cleared out. Towing idiocy isn’t limited to Ford drivers, though – a Ram was spotted in Texas with a Ford F-150 STX improperly strapped down to its flatbed.

  1. If the cammer can track down the box owner, sue them enough to put them out of business. For sheer stupidity (and the windshield costs).
