The Ford E-Transit debuted for the 2022 model year and quickly found its footing with commercial customers in the U.S. It wasn’t long before the EV van started launching in other global markets as well, an ever-growing list of places that included the South American country of Argentina just over one year ago. At the same time, the delivery company known as DHL has been busy purchasing Ford E-Transit vans and adding them to its own fleet in various places around the world, and now, it’s doing precisely that in Argentina, too.
DHL Global Forwarding – the air and maritime transport division of the DHL Group – has taken delivery of its first Ford E-Transit chassis model, an event that was attended by executives from that company, plus Ford Argentina as well. The company plans to expand its EV fleet moving forward, after it successfully completed a pilot program hosted by The Blue Oval in 2023 that enabled select companies to try out its all-electric vans before purchasing them.
“Sustainability is a key pillar in DHL Global Forwarding, and E-Transit exemplifies our commitment to innovation in logistics,” said Eduardo Rodrigues, Country Manager, Argentina. “This electric vehicle not only helps reduce our carbon footprint, but also optimizes our operations, directly benefiting our customers.” “We thank DHL Global Forwarding for trusting Ford and we hope to continue working together on the evolution of sustainable logistics, contributing innovative solutions for the sector,” added Diego Wallentin, General Manager of Ford Pro in Argentina.
This Ford E-Transit purchase is just the latest of many by DHL, which inked a deal to buy 45 new EV vans for its Palo Alto, California operations back in 2022. A year later, the shipping company added 44 E-Transit vans to its Irish fleet – replacing diesel models – and in 2024, took delivery of 2,400 Ford E-Transit and E-Transit Custom vans in Europe, with plans to add many more in the future.
