Dirty Ford F-150 Raptor Gets Detailed After Six Months: Video

The Ford F-150 Raptor was built to handle almost any condition without breaking a sweat, including snow and ice through the wintry seasons. The owner of one F-150 Raptor decided it wasn’t worth washing their muscle truck throughout the fall and winter, going over six months between cleanings, and it’s absolutely caked in road salt and grime – but it’s a good thing that he’s a professional detailer.

Video still of The Detail Geek cleaning his Ford F-150 Raptor by wiping down its exterior with a microfiber towel. IT hadn't been washed in over half a year.

This Ford F-150 Raptor – affectionately named “Ruby” –  belongs to The Detail Geek on YouTube, appears to be from the 2017 through 2020 model year. He says he was too busy through the snowy season to bother with his own pickup. But now that the dreary days are behind him, he’s ready to give it a good spa day. He starts by power washing the grime off the doors, revealing Ruby’s sparkling red paint underneath. The video is presented in real-time, showing the steps he takes when cleaning clients’ vehicles.

Once he’s given sufficient attention to the Ford F-150 Raptor exterior – including power washing right down to the bed and wheels, scrubbing the tires, and drying it with a clean microfiber towel – he focuses on the interior.

This means pulling all the mats out and power washing them, and vacuuming every crevice and channel inside the pickup. The Detail Geek remarks that it’s best practice to vacuum between the weather stripping and other parts of the door before moving on because it will make it much easier in the future.

Finishing up inside by wiping down all surfaces and cleaning the seats and dashboard, he again heads to the exterior, applying protectant to the tonneau cover, windshield, and windows. When he’s done, Ruby looks just as good as it did when it was brand new, showcasing the care and detail that goes into his craft.

Other satisfying details documented on video include a 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra that got its first bath in almost three decades, and 2005 Ford GT getting an extensive detail inside and out.
