European Ford EV Lineup Originally Revealed In 2022 Now Available

Back in March 2022, The Blue Oval announced that it planned on launching seven new Ford EV models by 2024, a decision based on the automaker’s at-the-time goal of transitioning to a purely all-electric lineup by 2030. That’s no longer the case, as demand for EVs in Europe (and across most of the globe) has failed to grow at expected levels, and as such, Ford ditched that goal last year. However, even amid that issue and various other problems Ford EV models are facing in Europe at the moment, the automaker has fulfilled its promise from 2022.

Though it took a bit longer than previously planned, Ford’s recent announcement that full-scale production of several new EV models in Europe fulfills its commitment to vastly expand that lineup, regardless. As Ford Authority reported last week, the E-Tourneo Courier and E‑Transit Courier – along with the Puma Gen-E – just entered full-scale production at the joint-venture Ford Otosan Craiova Assembly plant in Romania, some time after those models made their official debuts. Those all-electric vans join a full lineup of electrified Ford Transit models including the recently-updated E-Transit, the E-Transit Custom and Transit Custom PHEV, as well as the Transit Connect PHEV to round things out.

As Ford Authority recently reported, FoMoCo CEO Jim Farley intends to double the company’s EV production this year, largely based on this growth in Europe. Despite slow demand for the Explorer and Capri EV models, the new Puma Gen-E sports a low price tag and is based on one of that region’s best-selling models, which could make it more appealing in Europe, in addition to the company’s electrified Ford Pro products.

Regardless, Ford continues to face an uphill battle in Europe amid slow sales for its passenger vehicles and EVs in general. The automaker has called on the European Union and UK officials to introduce robust incentives for EVs on multiple occasions as of late, and for now at least, it plans to focus more on its successful Ford Pro commercial business amid weak retail sales.

  1. Completely wrong EV Lineup for European market ! Europeans prefer small and medium vehicle’s because various reasons but the most obvious is the parking spaces in Europe are half if the parking spaces in USA, silly and stupid decisions from the management in USA damaged Ford of Europe business and then Jim claims is a “very competitive market and he don’t profit in EU” ! Is your fault Jim, your fault, not European employees fault !!!
