Ford Bronco Sport, Maverick Recalled To Fix Incorrect 12V Battery Repair

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2022-2023 Ford Maverick and 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport models previously repaired incorrectly under recall number 24V-267.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the body and power train control modules may fail to detect a change in the 12-volt battery state of charge.

The hazards: an undetected low battery charge can result in a loss of electrical accessories such as hazard lights, or cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: 12-volt battery

Affected vehicles: select 2022-2023 Ford Maverick models produced at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant between August 2nd, 2021, and August 22nd, 2022, plus 2021-2024 Ford Bronco Sport models built between July 8th, 2020, and March 14th, 2024.

Number of vehicles affected: 12,833 models in total – 11,620 Bronco Sports and 1,213 Mavericks

The fix: dealers will recalibrate the body control module and power train control module, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on April 24th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 25S26.
