Back in May 2023, Ford announced that its EV owners would be receiving a free adapter enabling them to utilize North American Charging Standard (NACS) chargers such as Tesla Supercharger stations. However, supply chain issues and problems with an early batch of those adapters caused some delays in that process, though Ford later teamed up with Lecron to develop a new one, which is seemingly quite robust. Thanks to that new unit, Ford has now officially shipped complimentary adapters to all of those that ordered one.
Proud to share that all 139,935 complimentary adapters reserved by our U.S. customers have been shipped! Thank you to our team for making this happen and ensuring we fulfilled our commitment. And thank you to our customers for their support and feedback along the way! https://t.co/TjnnOXZdC5 pic.twitter.com/XLbR2AYE1K

Those that didn’t qualify for a free Ford NACS adapter can purchase one from the automaker itself, as it was just added to The Blue Oval’s catalog this week. The Ford fast charging adapter retails for $200 and gives EV owners access not only to the Tesla Supercharger network, but also, other charging stations that utilize NACS ports across the U.S. and Canada. It’s an OEM certified part that’s rated for up to 500 amps and 1,000 volts, and it’s designed to fit neatly in places such as the glovebox.
The new Ford OEM fast charging adapter is compatible with a host of the automaker’s EVs including the 2022-2025 Ford F-150 Lightning, 2021-2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E, and 2022-2025 Ford E-Transit. However, since Ford’s plug-in hybrids and the Focus Electric don’t have access to the BlueOval Charging Network – and in some cases, aren’t able to utilize DC fast charging – the adapter won’t work with those models. Additionally, the adapter isn’t compatible with Level 1 and Level 1 AC chargers, including home chargers with NACS connectors and Tesla Destination Chargers.
