Ford EcoSport Recalled Over Axle Shaft Disconnection Issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2021-2022 Ford EcoSport crossovers over an issue with the front axle half shafts.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the front axle half shafts may disconnect from the transmission, which can result in a loss of drive power.

The hazards: a loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash. In addition, a disconnected half shaft can result in a vehicle rollaway if the parking brake is not applied, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this issue.

Components: front axle half shafts

Affected vehicles: select 2021-2022 Ford EcoSport models produced between April 1^st, 2021, and July 20^th, 2022.

Number of vehicles affected: 18,648

The fix: dealers will inspect and replace the half shafts as necessary, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communication from Ford, which will begin on April 7^th, 2025. Ford’s reference number for this recall is 25S12.
