Ford Mustang EcoBoost Driver Didn’t Crash Leaving Show: Video

Ford Mustang drivers have earned a bit of a reputation in recent years, often caught on camera pulling questionable stunts when leaving car meets – like “drifting” into curbs or, unfortunately, crowds. The driver of a sixth-gen Mustang EcoBoost tried to show off their skills as a wheelman while driving off from a show, and it went about as expected in a recent viral video.

Video still of the Ford Mustang as it spins out, almost hitting traffic as it leaves a car show. They managed to not crash, somehow.

Appropriately posted to the ever-entertaining r/IdiotsInCars community on Reddit, the video shows a bright red Ford Mustang EcoBoost taking off from a show in a parking lot. As soon as they have a “clear” road, the driver of the Mustang guns it out of the lot and tries to join the flow of traffic on the road, tires skipping as they crank the steering wheel to make the right turn.

Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t take long for the Ford Mustang to lose traction in the back end. The nose points sharply to the right, then abruptly swings the other direction as the driver overcorrects and swerves into oncoming traffic. There’s a moment of panic where the Mustang looks like it’s about to plow into a vehicle traveling the opposite direction, but somehow, the driver pulls the muscle car away from the imminent crash. They continue to swerve in the other lane until they finally get their pony car back under control.

Hopefully, they’ll think twice before trying to pull a stunt like that again. But considering that their Ford Mustang EcoBoost wears the 5.0 badge, we’re not hopeful. There’s no way that muscle car is packing the 5.0L Coyote V8 with that exhaust note.

Crashing after a “drift” is an unfortunately common theme among Ford Mustang drivers. Another S550 Ford Mustang plowed into a tree after losing traction, while another driver got their Mustang under control just in the nick of time to avoid slamming into some bystanders. Perhaps they should take lessons from a driving school that will teach them how to not wreck their ponies.

  3. Mussel cars and show offs are a bad match up. Learn to respect the power and only go straight, don’t put it to the floor when turning and taking curves. The driver should be in control of his car at all times or he will risk hitting and hurting someone else. Don’t be a jerk behind the wheel, if you can’t handle it, sell it. If you can’t be a mature responsible driver, sell it before you hurt yourself or someone else.
