Ford Mustang GT3 Scores Top-Five Finish At 2025 12 Hours Of Sebring

The Ford Mustang GT3 teams fought hard at the 2025 12 Hours of Sebring, ultimately securing a fifth-place finish as the checkered flag fell on the grueling endurance race on March 15th, 2025.

The fifth-place GTD Pro class showing was pulled off by the Multimatic No. 64 Mustang of Mike Rockenfeller, Sebastian Priaulx, and Ben Barker. While the No. 64 team briefly held the lead, ultimately, they could not hold off the No. 48 BMW, which completed the pass for the top spot in the early evening hours of the race. Although they didn’t have the speed to fight back toward the front, the No. 64 Ford Mustang GT3 team held down fifth place at the line, marking its second straight top-five finish in as may races in the 2025 IMSA season.

The No. 65 Ford Mustang GT3 finished just behind them. Shared between drivers Christopher Mies, Frederik Vervisch, Dennis Olsen, the No. 65 Mustang finished just over one second behind its Blue Oval brethren. It was a successful finish for the Rolex 24-winning trio, which was one of six GTD Pro entries to finish on the lead lap out of 11 competitors. Of course, the No. 64 Mustang was another to maintain its lead-lap position. Currently, the No. 65 Mustang team maintains first place in the overall points standings, while the No. 64 is in sole possession of fourth.

The No. 66 Mustang, meanwhile, struggled a bit during the race. Joey Hand. Till Bechtolsheimer, and Tatiana Calderón shared the wheel of the pony car, suffered early-race contact that dealt minor damage to the race car. While it wasn’t enough to cripple it, the wounded race car was never able to recover. Even so, the Gradient Racing team learned some valuable lessons out on the track, despite the fact that the race car did not handle nearly as well as it did in practice.

The No. 77 Porsche of Laurin Heinrich, Klaus Bachler, and Alessio Picariello won the GTD Pro class.
