It’s been well over a year since the Ford Mustang GTD debuted, and since then, we’ve learned more about the ultimate pony car in small chunks over time. That includes the fact that owners must keep their cars for at least two years – just like the Ford GT – as Ford Authority exclusively reported last month, and the special Spirit of America edition just made its debut recently, too. We also know how much the Ford Mustang GTD will cost, but now, we’re getting more specific details from a future Ford Mustang GTD owner himself.
Since only approved Ford Mustang GTD buyers can access that model’s configurator, we’re getting this information from YouTuber, real estate investor, and supercar collector Manny Khoshbin, who just posted a video outlining some of these pertinent details. For starters, we get a look at what’s included in the optional Performance Package – lightweight half shafts, lightweight carpeting, a painted carbon fiber splitter and rear diffuser, and an active aero carbon fiber rear wing.
In terms of paint colors, there are a total of six, not including the optional paint to sample program that gives customers virtually unlimited choices in that regard – Shadow Black, Frozen White, Race Red, Lightning Blue, Polymimetic Gray, and Chroma Flame. Customers can also opt for the Carbon Package, which adds a carbon fiber hood, roof, wing, and other bits, to which one can add stripes or even chevrons. Inside the cabin, there aren’t too many color options – just Ombre and Black Onyx, it seems. However, one can opt for titanium trim for the interior, which adds larger paddle shifters and other bits and pieces.
Khoshbin also goes over some other things we already know about, including wheel options and notable features on the Ford Mustang GTD, but he also adds another interesting tidbit that we weren’t previously aware of – production of the Spirit of America model is limited to 20 percent of its overall total, so it’s allocated somewhat. It comes standard with the Performance Package and carbon fiber elements, but starts out at a whopping $429,000.
