Ford Ranger UK’s Best Selling Pickup Of February 2025

In places like the UK and Europe, vans have long been the preferred vehicle of choice for commercial fleet customers, with models like the Transit family dominating the sales charts in that regard. However, the Ford Ranger is also quite popular in those parts of the world as well, and the pickup continues to rank among the best-selling light commercial vehicles in the UK, specifically, as well as the best-selling pickup overall. That continued to be the case in February 2025, too.

According to new data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the Ford Ranger racked up 1,041 sales last month, which ranked it above all other pickups in the UK market while also placing it fourth overall in terms of LCV sales – behind only the Ford Transit Custom, Vauxhall Vivaro, and Ford Transit. The Ranger also beat out the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Citroen Berlingo, Renault Trafic, Peugeot Expert, Toyota Hilux, and Ford Transit Courier to round out the top 10. This sort of ranking is nothing new for the Ford Ranger, which closed out 2024 as the UK’s best-selling pickup, a trend that continued into January. Additionally, the Ford Puma landed in the top 10 of passenger vehicle sales in that country last month, too.

As for the overall light commercial vehicle segment, sales fell 19.3 percent in February 2025 to 14,476 units, which represents the third consecutive month-over-month decline. Smaller vans enjoyed a 55.3 percent increase to 427 units, and EV van sales grew by 55.1 percent to 1,413 units, but every other segment suffered some sort of decline, dragging down LCV sales as a whole.

“Against an increasingly difficult economic backdrop, van manufacturers have shown resilience, but the decline was perhaps inevitable after two years of strong performance. Even in a contracting market, however, zero emission uptake is positive but still struggles to match the ambition of regulation,” said SMMT Chief Executive Mike Hawes. “While the ongoing Plug-in Van Grant provides a lifeline, we still need support to bolster operator confidence, boost demand and deliver decarbonization. Industry has committed billions to this vital transition and the mandate review must deliver workable measures that enable that commitment to deliver our shared ambition.”

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
