Since its debut years ago, Ford’s BlueOval Charge Network has continued to expand, which is all part of the plan to vastly improve what is currently lacking in terms of infrastructure across the U.S. and other parts of the world. Most recently, the BlueOval Charge Network gained Francis Energy, Blink, and Red E as partners across the U.S. and Canada with embedded charger routing and payment options via FordPass, which effectively expanded that network by 10,000 units. Now, Ford has added yet another third-party company to that ever-growing network, too.

That company is Ionna, which just announced that it is officially joining the BlueOval Charge Network. Like the aforementioned third-party providers, Ionna offers customers FordPass app integration, as well as via the in-vehicle touchscreen, giving Blue Oval EV owners easy access to that existing network. Ionna has only been around since February 2024, but it has already contracted over 100 new sites and plans to deploy more than 1,000 additional chargers across the U.S. by the end of 2025, plus 30,000 more over the next five years.
Those chargers lean on the North American Charging Standard (NACS) created by Tesla and utilized at its Supercharger stations, which Ford EVs already have access to thanks to a new adapter that owners received for free – though it’s now being sold by the automaker itself. After experiencing a few issues with that adapter early on, Ford decided to team up with Lecron to develop a new one, which has thus far received largely positive reviews. Meanwhile, Ford EV owners continue to receive new features that aim to make the act of charging on the go easier, including fast charger routing via Apple CarPlay, most recently.
