The Ford Edge was discontinued some time ago, and we saw the very last example of that crossover roll off the assembly line at the Oakville Assembly plant in Canada back in May 2024 as a result. From 2007 and 2024, Ford built a grand total of 2,609,545 Edgesl, and even though the North American version is officially on ice (the Edge L is still being sold in China), it remains quite popular with critics and consumers alike. There’s still time to find a new Ford Edge on dealer lots, too, though those numbers continue to dwindle as the months tick by.
According to Ford’s February sales report, new Ford Edge gross stock in the U.S. stood at 1,600 units at the conclusion of last month, which is quite a bit less than the prior few months. In January, there were 2,400 Ford Edge crossovers in gross dealer stock after that figure stood at 17,800 at the end of June, 13,800 units in July, 8,100 units as of the end of September, 4,300 units at the conclusion of November, and 3,000 in December.
Ultimately, the demise of the Ford Edge is just part of CEO Jim Farley’s plan to eliminate what he considers to be “boring” products from the automakers lineup. After stating that “We are not going to be playing in the two-row commodity crossover market because that’s – because Ford’s tried that in the ICE business and it didn’t really work out for us,” Farley even made his new mantra part of his X bio, and continues to double down on those remarks.
After originally planning to build two all-electric three-row crossovers at Oakville, The Blue Oval will instead produce the Ford Super Duty at that plant starting in 2026, in addition to the Kentucky Truck plant and the Ohio Assembly plant. The automaker will invest $3 billion to make this happen, with $2.3 billion of that sum going toward retooling the Oakville plant for Ford Super Duty production, including the installation of both assembly and stamping equipment. This move will also add around 1,800 jobs at the Oakville plant, with 150 more joining the ranks at the Windsor Engine Complex to build V8 engines for the Super Duty as well.

Only problem I have with that is that it’s already an OLD model and would look ancient if I kept it 10 years. And be WAY behind on tech by then.
Scrap the four door Mustang and bring back the Edge, it’s the right thing to do.
Weird Farley thinks the Edge is boring while the F-250 isn’t. The Edge even has an ST model. The Edge ST is a whole less boring than the F-250. Farley is off his rocker if he thinks a 4 door Mustang is a good idea.
I can’t add a whole lot more to what Ricky and Stuart said.
My F250 is a truck and I use it to do truck stuff like haul things. I don’t use it to out to dinner with my wife.
My Mustang is my fun car and I use it to go on drives, take vacation trips, and just to have a good time in.
My Edge is for going to work, the grocery, and just general driving. I don’t need it to be exciting, I need it to be reliable transportation that is comfortable and pleasant to drive, and it does these thing quite well.
I will add that being “All Wheel Drive” has saved us more than once in our Edge. Just a couple of weeks ago we had a heavy rain that washed our driveway out while we were having dinner with friends. Our driveway is long, steep, narrow, and it was dark. I charged up our driveway not knowing if I could make it up to our house. The Edge got us to our house with no problem even though the driveway was a wreck. Even my 4×4 F250 had trouble going up and down my driveway until repairs could be made.
You keep at it Farley. Ford going down the tubes. When you cancelled the Ford Escape, you closed the coffin. Lots of people don’t want a bigger auto. Now ford is out of the auto business. Not everyone wants a pickup. You will see as your dealer inventory of pickups increases.
My wife had a 2018 Edge Titanium and when we heard the Edge was being discontinued, she decided to get a new Edge while she still could. Ordered 2024 Edge ST, 330 HP turbo on the last day that we could order. A few months later took delivery and love it!
A newer Camaro came beside us at a stop light on the edge of town, and seemed like he wanted to race. Well, I stood on it, and he could not loose us to the next light, doing about 60mph. I bet he was shocked to see and SUV keep up with his noisy V-8 GM sports car.
Wish they would bring back the Edge in all versions!
I have a 2014 Ford Edge. I love the car. I don’t understand why you quit making them. I was going to buy a new one, but you quit making them. So disappointed. I would buy a Ford Explorer, but they are too expensive!!
I hope Ford brings back the Ford Edge. I have purchased 3 Ford Edge vehicles, 2010, 2014, and a 2019. All of them performed great. Sold the 2010 last year for $3400 w/265,000 miles and still have the 2014 and 2019 titanium AWD.
Farley must be looking for a new job, or at least he will be. Getting rid of your best seller is just plain stupid. Just ask your dealer. I did and they are not happy. Always been a Ford man, but will look elsewhere.
