NHRA Ford Driver Bob Tasca III Says IndyCar Ad Is ‘Fake News’

NHRA Ford Mustang driver Bob Tasca III was fired up over a Fox Sports ad promoting a rival motorsport – so fired up that, after climbing out of his race car at an NHRA event, he blasted the network instead of discussing the race.

Tasca exited his NHRA Ford Mustang for an interview with Fox Sports after laying down a blistering run at Gainesville Raceway in Florida. He pulls the interviewer aside and tells her he had something to say, and as soon as he has control of the mic, he gives the network no quarter, calling it out over a recent IndyCar ad that claims the sport delivers “the fastest racing on Earth.”

“Yeah, so I should be talking about that run right now,” Tasca says. “I gotta call out Fox Sports. All winter long, we heard about the ‘fastest motorsports on the planet,’ and I was a little confused because I didn’t see that PPG Mustang when I saw that ad… truth is, it’s an insult to our fans and to the drivers for Fox to go on TV and say the fastest motorsports on earth, and it’s IndyCar?”

Obviously frustrated, he adds, “Come on, now! I didn’t think it was ‘fake news network’ on Fox!”

For context, Tasca’s NHRA Ford Mustang routinely makes straight-line runs in excess of 340 mph. IndyCar, meanwhile, is fast, but it’s not as fast as the NHRA. Indianapolis Motor Speedway is far and away IndyCar’s speediest track, and during the 2024 running of the race, the fastest qualifier clocked a top speed of 234.220 mph.

Tasca is passionate about his NHRA Ford Mustang, that’s for sure. Last year, Ford Performance  extended its partnership with him, appearing on his race car as primary sponsor for select events over the next few seasons. It’s been a successful relationship thus far – Tasca has captured plenty of hardware while racing under The Blue Oval’s banner, and is one of the winningest drivers in modern NHRA racing.

  1. Tasca is way late. He ought to have discovered Fox was fake news, when they sold people on jet fuel burns taking down skyscrapers – while our gov did nothing and mossad video’d and danced .

  2. I’m with Bob. I had exactly the same thought when I 1st saw the ads. Talk about misinformed hyperbole. INDYCAR is at best, 115mph slower than NHRA Fuel cars. It’s not even close.

  3. Tasca is correct. BUT the real offended party should be Bonneville as well as NHRA. Then again Fox, with it’s ‘exuberance’, is just trying to promote IndyCar which is finally back on network television.
