1990 Ford Tempo GL With 23K Miles Up For Auction

The Ford Tempo was once a pretty common sight on the roads, which isn’t surprising for a vehicle that was in production from 1984-1994 and sold tremendously well in its first year on the market, proving to be a popular entity among new vehicle shoppers. The Tempo remained in the top 10 on the U.S. sales charts throughout much of its existence, in fact, but these days, we rarely see them on the road – or for sale anywhere. Thus, anyone looking for a lower-mile example may want to jump on this 1990 Ford Tempo GL that just popped up for sale.

This two-door 1990 Ford Tempo GL is up for auction at Bring a Trailer with just 23k miles on the clock, in fact, after it spent most of its life with one family – at least, until 2023. Now, it’s up for grabs as one of the nicest Tempo models we’ve seen in a long time, one finished in Light Titanium Clearcoat Metallic with few flaws to speak of. According to the seller, this particular model does have one dent present in the right-rear quarter panel, but otherwise, it’s in mostly excellent condition on the outside.

The same is true of the interior, where one will find Titanium cloth seats that do show a bit of typical discoloration, but otherwise, it looks nearly like new in the cabin. There are also a few amenities present, including air conditioning, cruise control, the optional tilt steering column, automatic shoulder belts, and an AM/FM radio. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated 2.3L HSC inline-four cylinder engine, which was factory-rated to produce 98 horsepower and 124 pound-feet of torque, flowing to the front wheels through a three-speed automatic transaxle.

It’s been a few years since we’ve seen a Ford Tempo this nice surface for sale, making this one pretty special. That list includes a 1986 Tempo LX with just 13k miles that we spotted in late 2020, followed by a rather rare GLS model that was sold back in September 2021.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  2. I’m curious if this unit was built in Kansas City or Oakville. I worked at Oakville from 1984 to 2015, but I can’t remember if we built 2 door models as well as 4 door.

  4. I had a 93 Tempo. Very nice car that rode great and got good gas mileage, that is until the Ex destroyed it while driving all drugged up. The car lasted longer than she did after that one.
