2002 Ford Thunderbird With Less Than 500 Miles Heading To Auction

These days, we come across plenty of nice eleventh-generation Ford Thunderbird models with few miles on the clock that pop up at various collector car auctions, which makes sense given the fact that a lot of people thought they could buy one, stash it away, and eventually sell it for a huge profit. That hasn’t exactly happened – at least partially due to the sheer number of nice T-Birds out there – but this also creates the perfect opportunity for buyers to score one at a reasonable price. It’s unclear if that will be the case with this ultra low-mile 2002 Ford Thunderbird, however.

This 2002 Ford Thunderbird will cross the block at Mecum’s Indianapolis, Indiana auction next month, and it has just 465 miles on the clock, making it one of the lesser-used examples we’ve seen in some time. As one might imagine, it’s in completely original condition and has no flaws noted inside or out, nor does it have any sort of accident history to report. It’s finished in black with a matching painted removable hardtop, as well as a power-operated Midnight Black soft top, along with a set of 17-inch wheels.

Inside the cabin, one will find a matching black interior with leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, and an AM/FM stereo with an in-dash CD changer. Power – as is the case with every Ford Thunderbird from this generation – comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 3.9L V8, which was originally rated to generate 252 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission that drives the rear wheels.

This is just the latest of many eleventh-generation Ford Thunderbird models we’ve spotted recently, some of which have even fewer miles than this one. In fact, we’ve seen a pair of 2002 T-Birds with less – one with just 20 miles on the clock, as well as another with 54 miles – plus a third 2022 with 3k showing on the odometer.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
