The Ford Crown Victoria (and its Panther platform counterparts, the Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car) continue to grow in terms of popularity, even though all of them were discontinued years ago. There’s just something about a large, V8-powered, rear-wheel drive sedan that Americans love, even though those types of things don’t really exist anymore – at least, on the new vehicle market. Now, this 2005 Ford Crown Victoria LX Sport looks primed to attract its fair share of attention on the auction block, too.
This particular Ford Crown Victoria is up for grabs at Bring a Trailer with 55k miles on the clock, and it has lived its entire life in California thus far. It’s finished in Silver Birch Metallic paint that remains in excellent condition, save for some paintwork to fix blemishes on the roof and trunk. In general, the LX Sport was available between the 2002-2006 models years, though it lived on through 2008 as the LX Premium Sport Handling package.
Designed to appeal to a younger demographic, the Sport provided a sportier look, as one might imagine, with a monochromatic exterior treatment and dual exhaust, along with revised springs, shocks, and stabilizer bars for better handling performance, a rear air suspension, 17-inch five-spoke wheels, leather seats with front buckets, a floor shifter, and 3.27 rear gears. In this case, the sedan features a Dark Charcoal interior with woodgrain trim, power-adjustable pedals, a six-disc CD changer, cruise control, and automatic climate control.
Under the hood, one will find the familiar 4.6L V8, which was factory-rated to produce 239 horsepower and 287 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. It certainly isn’t every day that we come across a Ford Crown Victoria LX Sport, as they weren’t produced in any sort of major numbers. In fact, we last spotted an LX Sport for sale back in June 2023 that was one of just 152 built bearing its specific options, and it only had 10k miles on the clock at that time.
