Given the fact that the last-generation Ford Thunderbird debuted during a time when a lot of people thought they could stash them away with the hopes of one day selling those vehicles for a tidy profit, it’s no surprise we continue to see nice examples surface for sale at auction these days. The very last Ford Thunderbird is a unique machine with decidedly retro-modern styling, and luckily for fans of that model, there are loads of them out there with scant few miles on the clock, ripe for the taking. The latest example is this – a 2005 Ford Thunderbird 50th Anniversary model.
This 2005 Ford Thunderbird is up for auction at Bring a Trailer with 42k miles on the clock, and it’s #1,126 of 1,500 50th Anniversary models produced in total, all of which were finished in Cashmere Tri-Coat Metallic paint, as well as equipped with 17-inch 16-spoke micro-machined wheels with cashmere-color accent rings. That exterior remains in very nice, near-perfect condition, save for the fact that the top of the front bumper cover was repaired due to a garage door lowering on it.
Inside this limited-edition T-Bird, one will find Cashmere leather seats with anniversary embroidery and some wear, a numbered plaque in the glove box, and amenities including dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a high-gloss shift knob, and an AM/FM stereo with an in-dash CD changer. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated 3.9L V8, which in this guise was factory-rated to produce 280 horsepower and 286 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission.
This is just the latest of a few previous-generation Ford Thunderbird models that we’ve seen surface for sale in recent years, most of which are in nice condition with few miles on the clock. That list includes another anniversary model that just crossed the auction block back in February, too.
