In recent months, we’ve started to see more and more modern Ford Mustang models surface for sale at auction, generally, more performance-focused or rarer variants with low miles on the clock. Of that group, the S197 generation pony car remains rather popular, largely due to its simplistic nature, as well as retro-modern styling that has stood the test of time. Now, this 2006 Ford Mustang GT convertible is the latest of that bunch, and it’s a very nice example of its beloved generation as well.
This 2006 Ford Mustang GT drop top is currently being auctioned off at Hagerty, and it has a reasonable 49k miles showing on the odometer. It has lived with just two owners thus far, and doesn’t have too many flaws to note on the exterior – just some minor scuffs on the front bumper, along with a single paint chip on the driver’s side fender. It’s finished in Vista Blue paint with a black power convertible top, which features a glass rear window and defroster, and rolls on a set of 17-inch five-spoke wheels wrapped with 235/55ZR17 BFGoodrich g-Force Comp-2 tires.
Inside, one will find a gray interior with some wear on the driver’s side seat bolster, along with a delaminating pony car emblem on the steering wheel, but otherwise, the cabin is quite nice and equipped with the Shaker 500 stereo system and a six-disc CD changer. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated 4.6L V8, which was factory-rated to produce 300 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission.
Along with this nice 2006 Ford Mustang GT, we also spotted another coupe from the same model year back in late February that had just 4k miles showing on the odometer, but those aren’t the only S197s that have surfaced for auction as of late. They were also joined by a super-rare Shelby GT-H with a mere 1,500 miles a couple of weeks ago, too.
