2022 Ford GT MKII With One-Off Livery Heading To Auction

The Ford GT remains a regular sight on the collector car auction circuit, some time after the latest-generation example of the sports car went out of production, and we’re seeing values continue to rise, too. That’s especially true of rarer variants of the Ford GT, which tend to sell for big bucks whenever they surface for sale. Now, this 2022 Ford GT MkII figures to join that particular club for a number of reasons – including its one-off livery and low production total.

This 2022 Ford GT MkII is set to be auctioned off at Mecum’s Indianapolis, Indiana sale in May, and it’s one of just 45 such models produced in total – all for VIP clientele of the automaker, for starters. Modeled directly after the Shelby American GT/106 Prototype that was driven by Ken Miles and Bruce McLaren at Le Mans, it’s a truly special machine by any measure, but this one is even more so, since it’s finished in a special one-off livery that pays homage to the very first GT40 MkII Prototype itself.

That livery consists of a combination of white and dark blue hues, a #1 roundel, along with two sets of wheels – gold and aluminum alloy –  a fixed dual-plane rear wing, an EVO front splitter, and a roof-mounted air inlet. Inside, one will find a full roll cage, Sparco racing seats with six-point harnesses, and a MoTec data acquisition system. Power comes from an enhanced version of the twin turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine generating 700 horsepower, mated to a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox, while Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes help slow it down and five-way adjustable Multimatic DSSV dampers handle the curves.

The MSRP for this rather special Ford GT MkII was a whopping $1,287,575, including a significant $87,575 in options, and the car has only accumulated 160 miles thus far – making it a sure bet for a big time hammer price. We haven’t seen another MkII surface for sale recently, but the more common Carbon Series routinely rakes in big bucks at auction, which bodes well for this incredible variant.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
