2024 Ford Ranger, Lincoln Nautilus Recalled Over Incorrect Repair

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2025 Ford Ranger and Lincoln Nautilus units due to an issue with the vehicles’ windows pinching. Both of these models are being recalled again after incorrect repairs were applied during a prior recall for the same issue.

The defect: in affected vehicles, when closing the windows with the global closing feature, the windows may not automatically reverse after detecting an object. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 118, “Power-Operated Window Systems.”

The hazards: a closing window may exert excessive force by pinching a driver or passenger before retracting, increasing the risk of injury. Ford describes the issue as “a window automatic reversal system that exerts an upward force greater than 100 N on an obstacle increases the risk of injury.”

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Affected vehicles: select 2024 Ford Ranger pickups produced at the Michigan Assembly plant that are equipped with the recalled Driver Door Module (DDM) and Passenger Door Module (PDM) produced between January 18th, 2023 and July 16th, 2024; select units of the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus built between October 18th, 2023 and July 2nd, 2024.

Number of vehicles affected: 273 examples of the Nautilus; 895 examples of the Ranger

The fix: dealers will update the Driver Door Module and the Passenger Door Module software, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on May 19th, 2025. The Ford reference number for this recall is 25C10.

  1. I had bounce back issues with my ’17 Fusion when it was new. You mean after 8 years, they STILL have issues?

  2. Never had an issue with any of the Fords, Mercury or Lincolns we have owned with the power windows or even head gaskets on the 3.8 V/6, or coolant intrusion on the 1.6 or the 2.0 liter.

  3. This February I drove four hours in a rental car to pick up my new 2024 Nautilus hybrid Reserve II. When I arrived at the dealership they had just been informed by Ford that the recall was in place, and they could not sell me the Nautilus. The dealer only had two similar 2025 hybrid units in stock they could sell me. Given my plight after negotiation, I purchased a 2025 hybrid Reserve III for 12% under MSRP.
