2025 Ford Expedition Launch Had ‘Relentless’ Quality Control

Ford has faced its fair share of quality woes in recent years, leading to a large number of recalls and warranty costs that have left a sizable dent in its profits. However, The Blue Oval has also been working to improve in that regard in a number of ways, whether that be delaying the launch of refreshed/redesigned models as it works to iron out issues prior to deliveries beginning or appointing a head of quality, with CEO Jim Farley promising that the 2025 model year would mark a big turnaround. As it turns out, that seemingly applies to the redesigned 2025 Ford Expedition, too.

“Quality was a relentless focus for this launch, and we’re really driving that process to make sure that we ship the best quality vehicle to the customer,” Claire Yarmak, a quality manager at the Kentucky Truck plant, said of the 2025 Ford Expedition rollout in a recent interview with the Detroit Free Press. Yarmak added that The Blue Oval “spared no expense” in regard to ensuring that the 2025 Ford Expedition delivered the best possible quality to buyers, which is a result of the company beefing up its quality control, in general.

“We want to make sure that what (customers) purchased, what they expect coming from the vehicle, we’re giving them,” Yarmak said. “We have relentlessly focused on quality for this launch. KTPs motto here is ‘Always on,’ and the employees and the launch team and the engineers and everyone that helped support…has really brought this vehicle to life and made it a success.”

Yarmak revealed that the Kentucky Truck plant has achieved this in a variety of ways – starting with the fact that it utilized 20 new trained drivers to conduct tests and audits on every 2025 Ford Expedition that it builds. Ford also rolled out a total of 72 new finished vehicle compliance audits that are designed to ensure that every feature in the new Expedition is working as intended – features such as BlueCruise, 360-degree lighting, and the SUV’s brand new split rear tailgate, and it added around 100 inspectors per crew to ensure each model is ready to roll, too.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  6. Testing the finished product for potential defects is of course a good thing, but that’s not where quality happens. If you don’t build quality into each step of the process, no amount of final inspection will save you. I hope that is also happening at KTP and throughout Ford.

  7. Nice to hear. Now could you explain why a build started at the end of February hasn’t been completed yet?
