In recent years, we’ve watched as a handful of Blue Oval models have ditched their spare tire – something that has traditionally been included with most new vehicles – and replace it with Ford’s Tire Inflator and Seal Kit. That trend continued for the 2025 model year, with vehicles including the Ford F-150 Lightning adding that feature and making a spare tire optional, which was also true of the Lincoln Nautilus Premiere trim and its newly standard tire mobility kit, as well as the non-hybrid Ford Escape. Now, the 2025 Ford Explorer is following suit.
The 2025 Ford Explorer is also replacing its formerly standard spare tire with the Tire Inflator and Sealant Kit, but it’s worth noting that the mini spare tire and jack kit is still available as an option across the lineup. This change pertains to all Job 3 SUVs that are built on or after March 17th, 2025. This is one of a handful of updates that have taken place for the refreshed 2025 Ford Explorer since it originally launched, too.
As Ford Authority previously reported, those changes include the return of the factory SecuriCode keypad option as part of its Job 2 production update, which applied to all models built on or after November 25th, 2025. The factory-installed keypad is a $455 option and is available on all trim levels. The 2025 Ford Explorer ST also gained the Sun and Sound Package as part of the Job 2 production update, which adds a host of notable features such as the 14-speaker B&O sound system with a subwoofer, multicountour seats with Active Motion in the front, and the Panoramic Vista Roof with Power Shade, all for an extra cost of $2,995.
Meanwhile, certain trims in the 2025 Ford Explorer lineup received a price increase back in February – the Active, ST-Line, and ST all got $130 pricier since the last increase, in fact, and that change applied to all models invoiced by February 13th, 2025.

Gotta save pennies. But this is a disgusting way.
What a cheap way to treat the customer ! If a tire is cut , and the damage is so great ; what use is an inflator kit a long way to a service station ! Give one to Jim Farley , when you then must call AAA Service !or a Then he wants a spare tire , after charging an exhorbinate for an overpriced Explorer !
I guess Jimbo and Bill Ford never had a blowout. I guess they also never drove in West Texas where it can be days to a tire repair or roadside assistance. Thanks for nothing you cheapskates.
