2025 Ford Explorer Tremor SUVs Spotted Completely Undisguised For First Time

The Ford Explorer Timberline debuted back in 2021 as a more off-road-focused version of the long-running SUV, sporting both cosmetic and functional upgrades in a number of areas. However, the Timberline was absent from the lineup when the Explorer received a refresh for the beginning of the 2025 model year, though as Ford Authority reported last August, it – along with the Ford Expedition Timberline – were set to be replaced with a new Tremor variant, and the Expedition Tremor has in fact already debuted. Now, the 2025 Ford Explorer Tremor has been spotted completely undisguised.

Last October, Ford Authority spotted the 2025 Ford Explorer Tremor out testing for the first time, though it was covered in camo back then, concealing many of its unique exterior design features. That isn’t the case with these three models, however, which have now been spotted with no coverings of any kind. As previously expected, the 2025 Ford Explorer Tremor shares many of the outgoing Timberline’s unique features, starting up front with an orange-accented grille, as well as orange tow hooks in the lower portion of the front fascia, where we can see a beefy skid plate present.

Moving down the side, we see additional Tremor Orange accents donning the SUV’s unique wheels, which are the same size and design as the outgoing Timberline. They’re wrapped with Bridgetone Dueller A/T REVO3 265/65R18 tires, which are also sized the same as the ones present on the old Explorer Timberline, too.

In the rear, we get a good look at this model’s “Tremor” badge, along with additional orange accents in the lower portion, which is beefier than the regular Explorer as well. Overall, these 2025 Ford Explorer Tremor prototypes confirm what we believed to be true previously, in that it won’t be much different from the Timberline, aside from its name change. However, one of these prototypes appears to be finished in what may be Stone Gray, signaling that the Explorer Tremor could get its own exclusive exterior color option, at least.

Ford officially teased the new Explorer Tremor just a couple of weeks ago, though it didn’t reveal exactly when the new model will make its official debut. However, given these sightings, we shouldn’t have to wait much longer for the official reveal.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. Hope they have the V6 for an option otherwise just a trim package and wheels. Why Ford loves those body shop colors like primer grays is beyond me. That Marsh Grey is just ugly

  3. Some Toyo AT3s would look great on that. I see them on regular Explorers often and even an Aviator once.
Also I really like the “truckier” front fascia
