As is typically the case with the advent of a new model year, the 2025 Ford F-150 received modest changes to its exterior color lineup, dropping two hues including Avalanche. Turns out, its all-electric brethren, the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning, is following suit, also striking Avalanche from its exterior color lineup.
Avalanche (paint code DR) was offered on all 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning trims, including XLT, Flash, Lariat, and Platinum. It was first added to the 2023 F-150 Lightning, meaning it was available for two model years before its subsequent discontinuation for the 2025 model year.
Despite the discontinuation of Avalanche, the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning offers a generous lineup of eight exterior colors. Specifically, the lineup includes the following (relevant paint codes listed in parentheses):
- Agate Black Metallic (UM)
- Antimatter Blue Metallic (HX)
- Carbonized Gray Metallic (M7)
- Iconic Silver Metallic (JS)
- Oxford White (YZ)
- Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat (D4)
- Star White Metallic Tri-Coat (AZ)
- Space White Metallic (A3) (New for 2025)
Production of the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center is now proceeding as planned, even though it was unexpectedly idled soon after it began. Production was expected to begin in earnest in November 2024, but The Blue Oval decided to idle it for seven weeks, starting at the end of the day on November 15th, 2024 and resuming on January 6th, 2025 in response to cooling demand for the electric pickup.
Changes that dropped for the electric pickup included ditching its factory SecuriCode keyless entry keypad, although it’s still available as a dealer-installed option. The F-150 Lightning also lost the previously-standard eLocking rear axle, which is now part of the optional Max Trailer Tow Package. The Interior Work Surface feature is also gone for the XLT and Flash trims, though it’s still standard on the Lariat and Platinum. Speaking of the Flash trim, it gained standard ActiveX seating instead of cloth.
Pricing for the 2025 F-150 Lightning compared to its 2024 model year counterpart didn’t increase a bit. The entry level XLT trim maintains its starting price of $62,995, not including destination freight charges.
