Ford’s SecuriCode keyless entry keypad is becoming increasingly rare among vehicles in its lineup – at least as a factory installed option. Initially, the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning was expected to be one of the models to ditch the factory installed SecuriCode keypad altogether, but as it turns out, the handy feature is sticking around on two of the electric pickup’s trims after all.

The online configurator for the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning is now live, allowing users to build and price the electric pickup, revealing that two trims still include the factory installed keypad. That means that the F-150 Lightning Lariat and Platinum trims will have the keypad equipped right from the assembly line.

Meanwhile, buyers of the 2025 Ford F-150 Pro, XLT or Flash trims can still acquire the SecuriCode keypad as a dealer-installed option, which costs $225. The feature will ship separately from the electric pickup itself and will be installed at the dealership.

Other models that have dropped the factory SecuriCode feature include the 2024 Ford Maverick, where the feature was previously standard on the 2023 XLT and Lariat trims. The 2024 Ford Escape followed suit, replacing it with the Illuminated Door Entry Keypad. The 2025 Ford F-150, too, lost the factory installed option, but still offers it as a dealer installed feature.

The 2025 F-150 Lightning boasts a handful of updates, including the new Dark Elements appearance package, an optional extra available on the Platinum trim. Said package bundles 22-inch black-painted wheels, black Ford ovals and badging, and a black interior. The pickup also features BlueCruise 1.4, designed to provide a smoother, more natural hands-free highway driving experience. Additionally, maximum DC fast charging has improved from 450 amps to 500 amps.

Production of the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center is now in full swing despite a significant delay. Operations initially kicked off in November 2024, but the automaker ultimately opted to idle it for seven weeks, starting at the end of the day on November 15th, 2024 and resuming on January 6th, 2025. Pricing starts at $62,995, not including destination freight charges

  • The door entry keypad has been a feature that made Ford and Lincoln unique vs other brands. As a dealer for 25 years I can attest that most customers are disappointed to find out it’s no longer available as a factory installed option. The Ford app is not the answer, as it’s delayed to respond as you stand there waiting for the doors to unlock and hope it’s not raining, because you’ll be soaked by the time the doors finally unlock after pressing the button on the phone app. FYI, the accessory keypad for the ‘25 F150 has been on hold for over a month, so it’s currently not even available to our customers. The idea of sticking a black plastic looking keypad held on by two sided tape onto your new $100k F150 makes no sense. Most returning Ford customers are DISAPPOINTED to find the keypad is no longer available on the Bronco, Maverick, Escape & F150. Listen to your customers Ford!!! This is an easy fix…bring it back on ALL Ford vehicles as a factory installed option. A feature that loyal Ford/Lincoln owners have come accustom to and makes our brands unique to the competition.
