The Ford Maverick Lobo just debuted as part of that compact pickup’s mid-cycle refresh for the 2025 model year, giving consumers a sporty-looking option that also has some real performance upgrades as well. However, as many are already well aware, the Lobo name (which stands for “wolf”) is actually used in place of F-150 on that pickup in Mexico for all trims except for the base XL – a move that The Blue Oval made to appeal to younger customers in that market. Now, Ford Authority has spotted a pair of 2026 Ford F-150 Lobo prototypes out testing.
Much like the Maverick Lobo, these Ford F-150 Lobo prototypes are fitted with some sporty parts, including a unique front grille, a more aggressive front fascia with a chin spoiler, and lowered side sills that extend all the way down the sides of the pickups. The Lobo prototypes are rolling on a set of 22-inch six-spoke wheels with a new design, and they’re wrapped with Bridgestone Alenza AS02 275/50R22 tires – something that no F-150 model is currently offered with.
Otherwise, these two Ford F-150 Lobo prototypes do have a few notable differences that we can see – the Rapid Red example sports a standard hood, a single exhaust pipe, and black side mirrors, while the white model has heat-extracting vents present on its hood, as well as white side mirrors and dual exhaust tips in the rear. The Rapid Red F-150 Lobo is also equipped with an XLT badge on its fenders, while the white example isn’t – which could signal that the Lobo will be offered in more than one trim level, though that isn’t clear at this point.
It’s also unclear what sort of performance upgrades the Ford F-150 Lobo might offer, whether that be suspension-wise or what lurks under the hood. However, the emergence of the Ford F-150 Lobo isn’t exactly a surprise. Rather, Ford filed to trademark “F-150 Lobo” back in August 2023, and Ford Authority reported that the Lobo would be added to the F-150 lineup back in August 2024, after which we revealed some details pertaining to that model.

Really, yet another $65K+ pickup. Farley & Company you have got to get with the agenda called “reliable & affordable” … with 100% emphasis on both. The public wants an needs very reliable an affordable vehicles … not another dern $65K+ pickup. Yesterday my beloved 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid with delivered over 55 mpg in town was totaled by a jerk running a red light who just had knee surgery and shouldn’t have been driving. Thankfully I put replacement cost coverage via Progressive Insurance (about $100 a year for the add-on) and will be able to get a new car … Ford, you’re outta the running for a new sale, your decisions to produce engines that don’t last has lost your a customer. Now before anyone says give Ford a chance, well it you’ve got a spare $45K to throw away … let me know. The drive system currently in use simply isn’t reliable. My ’13 C-Max was the best car I’ve ever owned, routine maintenance and one set of tires. And NO … never a EV,not even a golf cart will be parked in my driveway. Farley … as well as myself, several thousand eco-boost (may-pop-engines) has lost any confidence in your capacity to run Henry’s once greatest Ford Motor Company.
The Ecoboost engines are not popping my brothers F150 has 350,000 miles on it and not one bit of trouble out of it and he has the 3.5. Internet always over blows everything all because of the need for clicks. I would love to see a Ranger in Lobo trim with an HO version of the 3.0 with 500 horsepower that would be a crazy fun truck, do it Ford you would have winner put a street version of the Raptor Suspension on it. Please do not make it ugly like the Maverick Lobo either and no horsepower boost. Plus what’s the point of the Lobo performance truck without adding the extra horsepower. Ford needs to upgrade the 3.5 to over 500 horsepower to compete with Rams 540 3.0.
