2026 Ford Super Duty Convertible Hybrid Debuts As Jolt To Segment

As Ford Authority previously reported, the Ford Super Duty is set to be produced at the Oakville Assembly plant in Canada starting in 2026, in addition to the Kentucky Truck plant and the Ohio Assembly plant. This move will certainly help The Blue Oval meet massive demand for the Ford Super Duty, which continues to grow, but we’ve also known for some time that the automaker is working on a hybrid version of the popular truck, too. Now, the 2026 Ford Super Duty hybrid has debuted, but somewhat shockingly, it has done so as a convertible.

Ford F-250

The 2026 Ford Super Duty convertible hybrid will indeed be built at the Oakville Assembly plant, which will run three shifts, with 100 percent of them devoted solely to production of the new electrified, drop-top, heavy-duty hauler. The Super Duty convertible comes standard with a cloth retractable top covering its spacious cabin, though customers can also get a power folding hardtop for a price – a whopping $50,000 extra, in fact. Customers interested in securing their Super Duty drop top can do so now via a non-refundable deposit of $6,000.

Regardless, the 2026 Ford Super Duty convertible hybrid will be offered in a variety of trims, with the base two-wheel drive XL starting out at a lofty $200,000, which isn’t too surprising given how expensive the conversion likely is for the automaker to complete, coupled with the structural rigidity it must add to make it viable.

Power comes from the same twin turbocharged 3.5L V6 PowerBoost powertrain available in the Ford F-150, but it utilizes a new 3 kWh battery and a trio of electric motors to give it a 4,000-pound payload rating and 20,000 pounds of max towing capacity. Interestingly, the convertible version will be the only Super Duty available with that electrified powertrain, however.

“In 2022, we revolutionized the open-air pickup segment with the Ford F-150 convertible. Now, we’re set to bring that same excitement into the heavy-duty segment too. Our Pro customers have been clogging our phone lines clamoring for this exact truck, so we’re extremely proud to give them exactly what they want,” said Ford CEO Tim Barley.

“With the 2026 Ford Super Duty Convertible Hybrid, we will ensure total Ford truck domination worldwide for the next century,” added Spike Ravine, product communications manager of Ford North Dakota.

If one hasn’t figured it out by now, the new Super Duty hybrid convertible is just part of our annual April Fools’ Day content, and will never see the light of day (at least, not that we know of)!

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  7. Ford, the most worthless American Company ever. Due to the EV dreams they fired thousands of engineers close to retirement. I will never, ever buy a Ford product again. (My last new on was a 2005 F150.) My family of 30 will never buy a Ford product for generations. Total crap.

  9. With how far out of touch Ford has become. I believe this would be their next logical step. Instead of giving us what we want, a full size car. Not everybody wants a precious mustang. Please give us back those cars that you allegedly have a smaller profit margin on. Profits still profit and many Americans would like to have one car brand in their driveway.
