Amid Ranger’s Debut, Ford Everest Super Duty Not Ruled Out

The Ford Ranger Super Duty was just unveiled late last week as the most capable version of the mid-size pickup yet, one that’s chock full of mechanical upgrades that enable it to tow up to 4,500 kilograms (9,920 pounds) – on par with many larger pickups. Though it won’t be sold in the U.S., where folks have the F-Series Super Duty to choose from, the Ranger Super Duty should be appealing to customers in Australia, where that isn’t the case. Even though deliveries of the Ranger Super Duty won’t begin until next year, it also seems as if a similar Ford Everest variant hasn’t been ruled out, either.

According to Australia’s CarSales, a Ford Everest Super Duty seemingly remains a possibility, given recent comments from Blue Oval executives. “If there became a market need for an Everest Super Duty and we could make a business case then anything is possible,” said Max Wolff, Ford’s regional design operations head. “I would say for the moment the need is for the Super Duty Ranger and that is what we have delivered and we have delivered that in spades.” “If that existed for another body style or derivative then that would be [possible],” added Todd Willing, Ford’s global design chief. “We don’t build stuff for folks that aren’t asking for it.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time some have wondered whether or not the Ford Everest – which shares a platform and many things with the Ranger – would be offered in the same sort of guise as its mid-size pickup counterpart. That won’t include a plug-in hybrid model, as Ford Authority previously reported, due to what the automaker calls “packaging constraints,” nor a Ford Everest Raptor, as customers apparently aren’t interested in such a thing.

However, the Everest is selling like hot cakes in Australia – ranking second in the automaker’s sales there last year behind only the Ranger – so it stands to reason that The Blue Oval may want to offer more variants of the SUV. In that realm, demand for the all-new Everest Tremor was so high that it took the automaker by surprise.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  3. The Everest would sell like “hot cakes” in the United States also. I would buy one tomorrow if available . Hopefully Ford marketing realizes its sales potential in the United States. 🤞

  4. The Ranger Super Duty would sell in the USA. Have an engine option for the 5.0 or 6.8 mini-zilla for the non-turbo buyers
