Boneheaded Chevy Silverado Driver Takes Out Ford Taurus: Video

It’s surprising how many drivers just don’t think twice when turning left across stopped traffic. Even if there’s a sizable gap, it’s not wise to make a turn if you can’t see what’s happening on the other side. Unfortunately, a Ford Taurus was victim to one such driver in a Chevy Silverado, who attempted to make a turn through a hole in stopped traffic without a clear view of the lane they were attempting to join.

Video still of the Ford Taurus after it was struck by the Chevy Silverado, forcing it into a spin and striking a Honda.

It’s not clear what led to the crash, which was posted on Reddit. The cammer, who isn’t involved in the crash themselves, is sitting in stopped traffic at a light, several cars deep. Suddenly, to their right, a Chevy Silverado starts to make a turn through a gap in the stopped traffic. A Ford Taurus traveling the opposite direction is in the wrong place, wrong time, as the Silverado attempts to compete its turn and tags them in the left rear quarter panel.

It’s an almost perfect PIT maneuver – the poor Taurus goes spinning off the nose of the Silverado and unfortunately crashes into the side of a stopped Honda just in front of the cammer. It appears that either the driver was in shock and didn’t lift off the accelerator, or the throttle stuck for a few seconds as the front wheels of the Taurus spin, driving it further into the Honda’s side.

Again, it’s not clear why the Silverado thought it had right of way – or why it shot for the far lane instead of the open lane closest to it. If they’d just stuck to where they were supposed to, the Ford Taurus and the Honda would not have been swept into the accident that really shouldn’t have happened at all.

Left turns are apparently quite dangerous. Take this Ford Expedition, which turned across moving traffic right in front of the cammer, causing an accident, while a Ford Mustang got a little too tail-happy while making a left-hand turn and ended up stuffed in a ditch.
