Cobb Tuning has long offered upgrades for the Ford Explorer ST, which largely consist of tuning support. In fact, Cobb launched its Accessport V3 tuner for the Ford Explorer ST back in January 2024, which helps lift output of the high-performance SUV’s twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 EcoBoost powerplant up to 414.9 horsepower and 482.5 pound-feet of torque at the wheels on the dyno, compared to the stock, baseline ratings of 361.5 horsepower and 437.3 pound-feet. Now, Cobb is providing transbrake functionality for Ford Explorer ST owners, too.
Cobb just announced that it has added transbrake, bump box, and creep functionality on the Accessport, straight out of the box, for Ford Explorer ST models, which should prove quite popular with owners that like to take their Ford Explorer ST to the drag strip. Those that already own the tuner can perform a firmware update to version 1.7.6.0-26949 and use the included v104 OTS maps to receive this functionality, which adds all three new modes to one’s available features.
Once that firmware update is complete, owners can head over to Tune – Restore OTS Maps and flash the appropriate v104 map based on what modifications they’ve made to their SUV, and then, they’re good to go. This particular feature is designed to provide Ford Explorer ST owners with more consistent 60-foot times and more easily build boost compared to foot braking. The default RPM setting is 2,500 RPM, but owners can alter that if they please – though doing so could place more stress on the engine, transmission, and differentials, as one might imagine.
Regardless, owners can also choose from creep or bump staging methods, too. Creep mode allows for a graceful and gradual movement forward while lining up at the tree on the transbrake, while the bump box allows one to “bump” the vehicle forward into staging while sitting on the transbrake.

Taking an Explorer to the drag strip – now we’ve REALLY lost our minds.
