Modern vehicles have all sorts of safety enhancements that make lane changes a lot easier and safer than they used to be, but even then, it’s best practice to physically check over your shoulder before making the switch. The driver of one Ford Bronco Sport clearly didn’t do that – not only did they completely ignore the indications that someone was in their blind spot, they had quite a bit of highway to safely execute the change and just didn’t.
The footage was captured by a poster on the Reddit community r/IdiotsInCars. They say they were traveling in New York when the incident occurred. The road is wet from rain, negatively impacting visibility, but not much. The cammer is shown gaining on a Ford Bronco Sport, who’s camping in the left lane and moving a lot slower than they are.
The Ford Bronco Sport driver almost appears to purposefully wait until the cammer is in their blind spot before finally deciding to move over to the right lane and out of the way of faster traffic. At least they even had the courtesy to put their blinker on, but didn’t give traffic enough time to react to said blinker, moving to the right almost immediately and right into the cammer’s path.
Thankfully, the Bronco Sport driver realizes their mistake before making contact. They swerve back into the left lane while the cammer’s wife offers some choice commentary on the situation. Then, they finally appear to find the accelerator pedal and lay down some distance between themselves and the cammer before trying again.
[OC] was driving myself and my wife up to Buffalo on Saturday and had a near miss. suffice it to say she wasn’t a happy passenger (language warning).

The Ford Bronco Sport in question is a Big Bend model that belongs to the 2023 through 2025 model year. Interestingly, prior to the 2025 model year, Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ was optional on the Big Bend trim, and given the driving habits captured in the video, perhaps the owner should have opted for the package – it would have saved them a lot of trouble and provided them with information on their blind spot.
A Ford Explorer wasn’t so lucky when it tried to make an ill-advised lane change, ramming a Ford Bronco in the process. The driver of a Ford F-150 had it even worse, swerving in front of another driver and managing to flip themselves over in the process.

I have a 24 Badlands and the indicator on the mirror (Blind spot monitoring) is useless. It doesn’t come on until there is a car beside you completely in your blind spot. Ford needs to address this issue. I noticed it doesn’t work properly on the way home from the dealership.
