The F-150 Lightning (see running Ford F-150 Lightning sales) saw sales slip seven percent to 7,187 deliveries, while the E-Transit (see running Ford E-Transit sales) posted a 30 percent increase to 3,756 units.
The Mustang Mach-E accounted for 51 percent of Ford EV sales, outselling its two stablemates combined. The F-150 Lightning followed at 32 percent, and the E-Transit had 17 percent.
The Ford Authority Take
Ford EV sales posted a healthy gain during Q1 2025. The Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit were solidly in the green, while the F-150 Lightning was in the red.
Despite the year-over-year increase, the overall sales volume was in the red compared to the previous quarter, with the Mach-E and F-150 Lighting both faltering, and the van growing.
Since President Donald Trump’s inauguration, the EV climate has changed drastically across the U.S., with the administration rumored to drop the federal tax credit for EVs, while also sapping funding for electric vehicle programs. Pushing back against that, a Ford-backed group wants Trump to revive the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program, which the president is stated to kill. Furthermore, the Trump admin is also instructing federal agencies to shut down EV chargers and sell off battery-electric vehicles in their fleets.
For its part, Ford is pushing back as well, having enlisted a former GOP representative to preserve the federal EV tax credit after Trump signed an executive order to reverse the Biden admin’s EV policies. Ford CEO Jim Farley says EV plants greatly depend on the tax credit.
Meanwhile, Trump is also planning to bring back 2020 emissions standards, with a Ford-backed group supporting the rollback of American EV mandates, which is concerned about a “looming and unachievable gas vehicle ban” supported in several states.
Cooling demand for EVs and a dim view from the current administration on electric vehicles does not bode well for this market. It is quite the turn of events from when battery-powered transportation was all the rage just a year or two ago.
Regardless, Ford EV sales set a new record in January 2025, growing by 21.2 percent to 5,666 units for the month.
About Ford Mustang Mach-E
The 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E arrives with significant updates. That includes adding a new standard heat pump to optimize energy consumption, especially in colder weather conditions that sap range due to warming the cabin. However, that results in a smaller frunk due to housing the heat pump.
Additionally, the 2025 Mustang Mach-E Premium trim gains new Sport Appearance Package, enhancing the all-electric crossover inside and out. Also, here is everything you need to know regarding grilles and packages for 2025.
The 2025 model ditches the old center-mounted dial shifter, replacing it with a column shifter to gain more storage space in the console. It also loses a couple of features previously included for the 2024 model year, namely the windshield wiper de-icer and MyKey feature.
As Ford Authority previously reported, the 2025 Mustang Mach-E is the first to get the new BlueCruise 1.5 update, which adds an Automatic Lane Change feature.
Additionally, the 2025 Mustang Mach-E gains the new Ford Connectivity Package. It comes with a one-year complimentary trial upon activation, after which owners can subscribe to an annual plan or make a one-time purchase.
For 2025, the EV crossover drops three paint colors but gets three new paint options, and a new wheel option for the 2025 Mustang Mach-E Rally.
A Ford Mustang Mach-E redesign is on track to debut in 2027.
About Ford F-150 Lightning
For 2024, the Ford F-150 Lightning drops two configurations while adding a new Flash trim level to slot above the XLT trim, bundling tech upgrades and the extended range battery at a more reasonable price. On the other end of the spectrum, The Blue Oval debuted the Platinum Black trim, with the F-150 Lightning being the first production Ford truck to feature a matte wrap. Additionally, the 2024 F-150 Lightning gains ActiveX seating for the Lariat trim, and the entire 2024 lineup gets a heat pump as standard, while dropping Active Park Assist 2.0.
Production of the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning is proceeding as planned, while the next-gen Ford F-150 EV production target has been pared back.
About Ford E-Transit
The 2025 Ford Transit arrives offering a ton of new packages and kits. This includes some factory-integrated vocational upfit packages, plus new interior accessory kits.
There are four factory-installed trade packages and options to choose from, all featuring components from Ranger Design and designed specifically for different industries, be it an electrician, HVAC, or general contractor.
Customers can also spec two new options, starting with a wall liner kit that includes lighting and wheel well covers to help aid in the installation of upfitting equipment. The other option is a large grab handles kit that enables easier accessibility into the van.
Smart Acceleration Truncation is now offered as a standalone option for fleet customers, which can help improve driver behavior by limiting acceleration based on auto-calculation of payload, enabling a smooth start after every stop.
For 50/50 Hinged Rear Door models, a 180-degree opening is standard on all low-/medium-roof cargo vans and all passenger vans, and a 253-degree opening is standard on all high-roof cargo vans and optional on all low/medium-roof variants.

Those Mach-e’s are super fast and look slick. I’m seeing them everywhere. Wild driving a car that’s the fastest one on the road. It can leave everyone else in the dust.
