School crossings exist for a reason, but unfortunately, some drivers who think they’re more important than everyone else tend to treat them as optional. The driver of one Ford Maverick presented with a serious case of main character syndrome while approaching an active school crossing in California on March 31st, 2025, not only blowing through the crossing, but skipping traffic to do it.
The dashcam video was captured and posted to r/IdiotsInCars on Reddit. The video shows the cam car driving away from a school crossing, showing a crossing guard blocking traffic so a few pedestrians – including a baby being pushed in a stroller – can safely cross the intersection. The Ford Maverick is stopped behind another car waiting at the crosswalk, but apparently, they get fed up right away and pull around them.
It gets worse from there. The Ford Maverick swerves around the other stopped vehicle, and almost appears to aim directly for the stroller and the crossing guard. They’re undeterred by the obvious stop sign, though, and press on anyway, driving across the crosswalk and continuing on their merry way.
Apparently, the Maverick driver can’t be bothered to wait behind the cammer to make a right turn at the next intersection, either – they pull the same move as they did in the intersection, swerving to the right to make the pass before continuing straight and cutting the cammer off. Bizarrely, the Maverick has its blinker activated during the maneuver, but it’s indicating the wrong direction.

The original poster claims that they submitted the video to the local police, but were told that the cops couldn’t do anything about it since they didn’t witness the incident themselves. Odds are, though, this isn’t the first or last time this Ford Maverick driver has done this – and hopefully, they get nailed for it in the future.
Late last year, a Ford Super Duty pulled a similar stunt. The driver simply refused to actually stop while a school bus has its lights and sign out, then pulls into a driveway nearby, apparently incapable of waiting a few extra seconds for the school bus and the children to clear out.

Police couldn’t do anything about it? That’s a pile of crap. That video is all they need. They are just being lazy.
So either the cops new him or he was some big shot or they’re just incompetent or lazy. There’s another sort of similar video from upstate NY. The guy was arrested,and had his name posted.

BS…With that logic, no arrest could ever be made without LEOs witnessing every crime committed.
IMO…FA was either provided an inaccurate disposition of the case or…an LEO didn’t want to do his/her job.
The previous year Mavericks look better than the 2025 model year. Ford ruined the front end of the 2025 Mavericks. What a setback.
