Ford Ranger UK’s Best Selling Pickup Of March 2025

In van hungry parts of the world like Europe and the UK, commercial buyers have long gravitated toward those types of vehicles – with the Ford Transit family leading the way in that regard. However, the Ford Ranger has also proven to be a popular entity for those seeking something with a bed in the back, and in the UK, it has remained the best-selling pickup for some time now. That was true for the entirety of 2024, and the Ford Ranger topped the UK sales charts in January and February to kick off 2025 – a trend that continued in March, too.

According to new data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the Ford Ranger was once again the best-selling pickup in the UK in March 2025, as well as the second-best light commercial vehicle (LCV) overall after recording 4,301 sales last month. That was second only to the Ford Transit Custom, with the Ford Transit coming in third this time around. In the passenger vehicle space, the Ford Puma once again ranked atop the UK sales charts in March, with the Kuga coming in eighth.

As for the overall UK light-commercial vehicle market, it experienced its fourth straight month of falling sales, dipping by 3.2 percent versus February. Pickup sales surged by 40.6 percent and small vans grew by 60.8 percent, but virtually every other segment experienced some sort of decline. EVs also posted a 40.3 percent increase, but still command only an eight percent market share – far below the 18 percent mandated for 2025 by the UK.

“Vans, pickups, and 4x4s are critical for business operations across the UK so four months of falling investment is concerning and reflects weak confidence, with further constraints set to impact the pickup segment,” said Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive. “It is positive, however, that electric uptake continues to rise thanks to growing model choice. Even so, with demand still well below 2025 ambitions, suitably bold plans for infrastructure rollout and workable regulation are needed to grow operator confidence and the investment that is needed.”
