Though we largely focus on auction listings for entire vehicles, there are plenty of other Ford-related goods one can bid on regularly, too. That includes quite a lot of memorabilia such as signs and even furniture made from automotive parts, not to mention entire engines and transmissions. In fact, this past February, we spotted a 5.2L V8 Voodoo and six-speed Tremec 3160 manual transmission at auction that came from a wrecked 2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350. Now, a supercharged 5.4L V8 from another wrecked pony car has surfaced for sale at auction, too.
This 5.4L V8 and six-speed manual Tremec transmission are currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer after both were pulled from a 2006 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 that was also involved in an accident around a decade ago. It was originally assembled at the Ford Romeo Niche-Line engine plant in Michigan, and continues to wear its signed build plate by the person that put it together originally, which is located on the valve cover.
This SVT-derived supercharged 5.4L V8 features four valves per cylinder, a cast iron block, aluminum heads, a forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods, forged aluminum pistons, and a roots-type Eaton supercharger, resulting in a factory output of 500 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. However, it is worth noting that a portion of the build sticker is missing, but one can still clearly see its production date of 2006.
Otherwise, all of the requisite documentation is present and accounted for, not to mention the gearbox that’s mated to the powerplant. It’s unclear how many miles the engine accumulated before it was removed from the GT500, but it stands to reason that this would make a fantastic swap for any number of other Ford models – whether that be something like a Fox Body Mustang or just about anything else one can stuff it in.
