The Ford Transit Custom has long been the top-selling light-commercial vehicle (LCV) and van in Europe, but it’s also sold in other markets, including Australia. There, the Transit Custom has been on sale for some time now, and Ford continues to add new trims and variants to that particular lineup as well. In fact, the Ford Transit Custom Trail just debuted as a more off-road-capable van for the Australian market last week, and now, it seems as if both hybrid and all-electric versions will be joining it very soon.

According to Drive, deliveries of the 2025 Ford Transit Custom PHEV and E-Transit Custom in Australia will begin between July and September of this year, expanding the list of offerings that customers in that market have to choose from. The plug-in hybrid Transit Custom PHEV will retail for $67,590 before on-road costs, while the E-Transit Custom costs $77,590 prior to adding those same fees. Both the Ford Transit Custom PHEV and E-Transit Custom will be offered in the short-wheelbase Sport and long-wheelbase Trend trim levels in Australia, too.

The Transit Custom PHEV pairs the naturally-aspirated Ford 2.5L four-cylinder gas engine with a single electric motor for a combined output of 171 kW, and it’s mated to a CVT gearbox driving the front wheels. With its 11.8 kWh battery pack, the plug-in hybrid van offers up 54 kilometers of electric-only driving range. The E-Transit Custom utilizes a rear-mounted electric motor churning out 160 kW and 415 nM of torque, with its 64 kWh battery pack delivering up to 307 kilometers of range on the generous WLTP cycle.

In terms of charging speeds, the E-Transit Custom has a DC rate of 125 kW, enabling it to go from 15 to 80 percent in around 32 minutes, or 0-100 percent in roughly 6.7 hours using an AC 11 kW charger at home. The EV gets a heat pump, one-pedal driving mode, and Sport drive mode, further differentiating it self from the rest of the Ford Transit Custom lineup.
