These days, it isn’t very common to see a vehicle produced decades ago that’s still in the possession of the original owner – or that person’s family, at the very least. From time to time, we do come across something of that nature, however, as a descendent of the original owner ultimately decides to move on for whatever reason – whether that be financial-related or just the fact that they aren’t into old cars like their parents/grandparents were. It’s unclear why the family of this 1928 Ford Model A has decided to move on after a whopping 76 years, but now, it’s up for sale, regardless.
This 1928 Ford Model A is currently listed for sale at Bring a Trailer, after it was originally purchased by the seller’s father in 1949. It was treated to a refurbishment that was completed back in 2013, and just last year, the son inherited the vintage machine. That work included respraying the Model A in a fresh shade of green with black fenders and running boards, as well as installing a new replacement black soft top and painting the 16-inch wire wheels in red.
Inside, one will find a bench seat that’s been upholstered in brown vinyl, along with a matching rumble seat, as well as a four-spoke steering wheel framing a speedometer, an ammeter, and a fuel-level gauge. Pop the hood, and one will find a Ford 201 cubic-inch L-head inline-four cylinder engine fitted with a replacement Zenith carburetor that was factory rated to produce 40 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. That power flows to the wheels via a sliding-gear three-speed manual transmission.
Back in October 2023, we saw a 1930 Ford Model A pickup surface for sale that had been in the possession of the same family since 1978, so this new find is certainly not common. However, we also came across a 1955 Ford F-100 last July at auction that had remained with the same family since it was sold new, too.
