1964 Ford Galaxie Country Sedan Owned By Sarah Bettencourt Up For Auction

We’ve certainly seen our fair share of celebrity-owned Ford models hit the auction block in recent years, typically raking in big money for that reason alone. That’s also likely to be true of this special 1964 Ford Galaxie Country Sedan, as it’s owned by Sarah Bettencourt, a former helicopter pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps that was forced to retire after she was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder. However, Bettencourt didn’t exactly give up on doing great things, and has since become a four-time Para Surf World Champion and co-captain of the U.S. Para Surf team. Now, her customized “Swagon” is up for grabs.

Bettencourt acquired this 1964 Ford Galaxie Country Sedan back in 2023 after it was modified in many ways in 2019, and now, it’s being auctioned off at Bring a Trailer. Finished in Skylight Blue complemented by plenty of chrome, this wagon certainly looks like a West Coast ride with its many stickers, a ’60s-era Carbonell longboard and Aloha racks up top, and 18-inch Detroit Steel Smoothies wheels adorned with baby moon caps and trim rings, wrapped with Diamondback Classics tires. The Galaxie also sits a bit lower to the ground thanks to a set of drop spindles and lowering blocks.

Inside, one will find a custom interior complete with a set of Thunderbird bucket seats, a custom fabricated center console, ambient lighting, a Kenwood stereo system, a three-spoke steering wheel, and Dakota Digital instrumentation. Under the hood lies a Ford 390 cubic-inch V8 that’s been treated to an Edelbrock intake manifold, a Holley carburetor, a PerTronix ignition, and a custom exhaust system, mated to a Cruise-o-Matic transmission and a rear end filled with 3.25 gears.

This Ford Galaxie is one of a few nice Blue Oval models that we’ve spotted at auction recently after spending some time with various celebrities and famous folks. That list also includes a 1969 Ford Mustang formerly owned by country music star Keith Urban, as well as a 2006 Ford GT once owned by hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
