In recent years, we’ve seen our fair share of vintage Lincoln Continental models go up for auction and command big bucks, which isn’t surprising given how iconic those vehicles truly are. Long a favorite among celebrities, politicians, and other notable folks, the Continental also gained fame for serving as a luxurious mode of transportation for some presidents, among many others, oftentimes in limousine guise. As for this 1967 Lincoln Continental limo, it was utilized in a very different manner in the past, however.
This 1967 Lincoln Continental limo is up for auction at Hagerty as part of The Rocket City Collection out of Huntsville, Alabama, after it was originally ordered by beer maker Anheuser-Busch and used to transport company CEO August Busch II. Today, it has a mere 52k miles on the clock and remains in nice condition with black satin paint, a like-new black vinyl Landau top, 20-inch wheels with custom hub caps, and white wall tires, with just a few typical scratches and paint chips throughout.
The same is true of the plush interior, which features a mixture of black leather and gray cloth upholstery, coupled with air conditioning, an AM/FM radio, sliding divider glass between the driver and passenger compartments, a walnut cabinet, and rear HVAC controls. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated 462 cubic-inch V8, originally rated to produce 340 horsepower and 485 pound-feet of torque, flowing to the wheels via the C6 three-speed automatic transmission.
In addition to this Lincoln Continental, we recently saw a 1967 VIP/government example pop up for auction, a 1962 model once used by President John F. Kennedy, and a 1969 Continental limo used on former President Lyndon B. Johnson’s ranch. In the realm of English royalty, we also saw a 1967 Lincoln Continental convertible once used to transport Queen Elizabeth II on more than one occasion pop up for auction just this past March.
