1987 Lincoln Town Car From ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Up For Auction

For several years now, actor Matthew McConaughey has been largely synonymous with Lincoln as one of its most notable spokespeople, largely buoyed by the fact that he’s starred in more than one commercial for the luxury brand over the years. However, years before he ever appeared in a Lincoln commercial, McConaughey starred in the movie The Lincoln Lawyer back in 2011, a film in which he plays the role of Mickey Haller, a lawyer that works out of a chauffeur-driven Lincoln Town Car instead of an office. Now, that same Lincoln Town Car is up for auction.

This 1987 Lincoln Town Car from The Lincoln Lawyer is currently being auctioned off at Hagerty, where it’s one of several offerings being sold from The Rocket City Collection, based out of Huntsville, Alabama. However, that wasn’t this car’s only notable appearance, as it also starred in season six of the TV series Sons of Anarchy, as well as HBO’s show True Blood – and it was previously owned by boxing legend Muhammad Ali, to boot.

The Lincoln Town Car is a Cartier Edition, adding upgrades such as Crystal and Titanium finish, a Coach vinyl roof, wire wheels, and Oxford Gray leather seats with the Cartier logo stitched into the seatbacks. It was later resprayed with fresh black paint and a black landau top, coupled with gold Cartier lettering, wire wheels, a digital gauge cluster, woodgrain trim, cruise control, air conditioning, a premium sound system, and the naturally-aspirated Ford 5.0L V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.

As one might imagine, this famous Town Car isn’t pristine by any means, as it shows a variety of imperfections such as paint chips and scratches, bubbling and peeling on the rubber trim and top, cracked window seals, holes and tears in the headliner, cracked interior vinyl, a slipping transmission, and 15-year-old tires that need to be replaced. However, given its historical prominence, we don’t doubt that it’ll attract its fair share of attention at auction.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
